A/Prof Chris Jones is a fellowship‑trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty and complex trauma. His clinical practice focuses on primary hip and knee replacement, computer‑assisted and robot‑assisted arthroplasty, unicompartment knee replacement, ceramic hip resurfacing, revision hip and knee replacement, management of prosthetic joint infection, and trauma surgery.

A/Prof Chris Jones completed a PhD at the University of Western Australia in surgery, pathology and biomechanical engineering, complementing his honours degree in medicine and surgery and dual honours degrees in mechanical engineering and commerce. He is triple‑fellowship trained and has developed extensive international experience in primary and revision arthroplasty including as the Complex Joint Reconstruction Fellow at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

He is an Orthopaedic Visiting Medical Officer at Fremantle Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital, where he is the Australian Orthopaedic Association Director of Training. A/Prof Chris Jones consults privately through Orthopaedics WA at St John of God Hospital Murdoch and soon at Orthonova Hospital (2027) where he is a founding member of the Surgeon Management Group.

As a clinician‑scientist and educator, A/Prof Chris Jones holds an appointment as Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia where he is actively involved in the Medical School and supervising masters and PhD candidates. He is a Co‑Director of the Orthopaedic Research Foundation of Western Australia (ORFWA), primary supervisor of the Fremantle Arthroplasty Fellowship, primary supervisor of the Fiona Stanley Revision Arthroplasty Fellowship and primary supervisor of the Fremantle Arthroplasty Research Fellowship. His research interests span articular cartilage repair and regeneration, matrix‑induced autologous chondrocyte implantation, bioscaffolds, bioengineering, prosthetic joint infection, revision arthroplasty, complex limb reconstruction, custom implant design and retrieval analysis of arthroplasty devices.

He has authored five book chapters and more than 90 peer‑reviewed publications in high‑impact journals and is a regular invited speaker, session chair and faculty member at regional, national and international orthopaedic meetings and workshops. Assoc. Prof. Christopher Jones' works have been referenced in the literature >1800 times. His previous academic appointments include clinical academic roles at Weill Cornell Medical College (New York), Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Central Medical School, University of Sydney, and Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Curtin University Medical School. A/Prof Chris Jones was appointed as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016, is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and a member of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Away from the operating theatre, Chris is a husband and father of two young sons.
